Spending spring break in Portland was an excellent decision. I experienced clarity and peace that only a vacation seems to reveal. Coastal air and greenery were a refreshing contrast to the straw brown grasses of the plains. So this post is a celebration of that, separate from the urban exploring we did. It was nice to be in nature: mist on our faces, mud on our shoes. On a few overcast mornings, we went running through a grove of Douglas firs. We hiked to the top of Multnomah Falls for a stunning view of the Columbia River and peaks of Washington mountains. I'll be meditating on the memories in nature for a few weeks.
