It's that time of year when the clock falls back and it gets chilly at night even when it's warm during the day. It's that time of year when staying under your blankets in bed a few minutes longer and coming home to curl up in cozy clothes sounds one million times better than busting out a four-mile run in the cold darkness. Yeah, it's that time of year again. Ugh. I've been dreading it since summer's end because I know I become more complacent than when the sun beckons me to play outside. It just sucks and every year I have to find new ways to motivate myself, like being OK with the treadmill for 20 minutes or running a well-lit yet trafficked stretch. Today, I woke up and went for it. I pounded out two miles, but it was better than nothing. So, I dare you. It's not as bad as you think.

1 // I didn't think I'd like a handheld water bottle more than a belt, but it has been so convenient to have water on the go. I like the Nathan women's size because it doesn't get too heavy yet I also don't run out of water. The little pouch barely holds my phone and a pack of energy chews or liquid.

2 // Normally, my hands are the warmest part of my body when I run, but on freezing mornings, my fingertips harden up and sting. My mom gifted me with a pair of gloves when I moved to Kansas and I am so thankful. I wore them this morning.

3 // Keep your ankles warm with some higher running socks. I've got one pair and to be honest, I re-wear them all the time. Sometimes they even make it into my ankle booties because I love wearing them so much.
